Staying healthy while switching to the night shift can be quite challenging, but fortunately, there are things that you can do to make this change a lot easier. You need to make sure that you go to bed as soon as you get home from work. This may be hard sometimes, but you will have an easier time getting adequate amounts of sleep if you to bed as soon as you get home. Errands, chores and other things can wait until later.
You should also encourage your family members to keep the noise level in the house to a minimum. If your family members do not comply with your request, then you should consider investing in a pair of ear plugs. Additionally, you should avoid drinking caffeine during your shift because that will make it much harder for you to go to sleep when you get home.
You should also try to get a little bit of exercise in during your shift. If you get a 10 or 15 minute break, then you should consider walking around the building. This will help keep you alert. However, you should not exercise right before you go home because that will make sleeping more difficult.
